Pepsi Prepares First Non-Fungible Token (NFT) Collection to Rival Coca-Cola

Soft drink company Pepsi is set to unveil its first non-fungible tokens (NFTs) collection for the Indian market. PepsiCo India Design Team and illustrator Timea Balo collaborated to create the NFT series for Pepsi Black in an effort to better connect with the technologically aware SWAG generation.

The NFT collection is claimed to be a tribute to the younger generation, which is constantly developing and deeply ingrained in technology and strongly believes in self-expression. Tagged ‘Pepsi Black Zero Sugar,’ it will feature a set of 20 digital collectibles and will be minted on the Polygon blockchain. According to Pepsi, this collection is also centered on the brand’s pillars of innovation, self-expression, and evolution.

The said NFT collection will come in three variations of each theme and will be centered around the classic Pepsi Black ‘Zero’ visual. The art collectibles will be listed on OpenSea, the world’s leading web3 marketplace for NFTs and crypto collectibles.

Metaverse War Between Coca-Cola and Pepsi?

It is worth mentioning that Pepsi’s rival, Coca-Cola, already made an entrance into the Web3 space long before its counterpart. Last year, the beverage company launched its first-ever NFT collectibles in celebration of International Friendship Day. It continued its Web3 journey by launching a brand new NFT collection on the Polygon Network to celebrate this year’s International Friendship Day.

Furthermore, Coca-Cola recently teamed up with fellow FIFA World Cup Sponsor and top crypto exchange Crypto.com to launch its ‘Piece of Magic’ NFT collection which will memorialize the greatest moments from this year’s tournament.

Coca-Cola has undoubtedly made its mark in the metaverse. It will be interesting to see the initiatives, aside from this NFT collection, that Pepsi comes up with to go head-to-head with its rival in the metaverse.
