Mark Zuckerberg Promises A Better Meta Metaverse

After being severely mocked the CEO promises better graphics

Mark Zuckerberg ,The CEO of Meta was severely mocked after showing off his Horizon Worlds avatar recently.

The game Horizon Worlds is accessible through the Meta Occulus VR Headset and was recently savagely ridiculed for its subpar graphics as many users have stated it resembles games from the late 90s to early 2000s. Games from that era has just begun moving into 3D and were choppy with very sharp edges, nothing like the photorealistic games of today.

The beta was fully released to the public in Feb.2022 and has amassed 300,000 monthly users.

In speaking on the image quality the main culprit was stated to be the Oculus VR headset. The headset is not cheap as it costs almost as much as todays current-gen gaming consoles. The headset has been blamed for having a subpar processing unit and low quality graphics card. Consoles such as the PlayStation 5 are far superior to the Oculus when it comes to rendering.

There are some that think the graphics were intentially created this way as Meta may be using the platform as a sandbox for data and research with a real project coming out in the future. The project could be a test to see what users will pay for in a virtual world and even Zuckerberg has stated it may take 10-15 years to fully realized the potential of a truly immersive realistic product.

The image given out by Zuckerberg was meant to celebrate all of the work and effort put into creating the metaverse project. The project is now available in many more countries and when Zuckerberg shared his “selfie” from the metaverse project many were quick to make fun of the image. The project is a multi-billion dollar project and yet the graphics did not display that. The results were terrible and the reviews were relentless.

After being ridiculed for this apparent failure Zuckerberg was quick to go onto his Instagram to do a bit of damage control. A new higher res version of the CEO was offered and is basically the fourth or fifth VR version of the avatar given by the social media CEO. This version (pictured above) probably does not represent the final version and there were even better versions offered before by the CEO himself.(in our opinion , see below)

Zuckerberg earlier avatar image

Mr. Zuckerberg stated the VR service is ever evolving and more will be created in the future that will be even better than what is presently offered.

In a statement to the masses Zuckerberg gave an explanation

“Major updates to Horizon and avatar graphics are coming soon. I’ll share more at Connect. Also I know the photo I posted earlier this week was pretty basic- it was taken very quickly to celebrate a launch. The graphics in Horizon are capable of much more – even on headsets-and Horizon is improving very quickly.”

There is truth to this as the graphics are capable of much more which brings into question why /Zuckerberg would share that particular photo at all. The graphics on Horizon and the Oculus are good but still pale in comparison to many other virtual reality projects. Zuckerberg has poured billions into creating the metaverse project and has even renamed his company from Facebook to Meta.

There are a still those that see Meta in a bad light as they ca not get over some of the wrongdoings of the company as Facebook. Time will tell if this new project and renaming of the company also comes with a better way of doing business or if things are going to be exactly the same as they were when the company was a web2 company.
