Bitstamp Disables Trading for FTX and Celsius Tokens

•Bitstamp is following in the footsteps of other exchanges by cancelling orders for FTX and Celsius tokens.

• Many exchanges have already stopped allowing users to trade FTT, and most have stopped CEL-related trading as well.

• Withdrawals of FTT and CEL will remain enabled on Bitstamp after the deadline, but selling will be disabled on November 22 at 7 am EST.

• Though Celsius ceased operations some time ago, its CEL token has been volatile recently due to a “short squeeze.”

• The move by Bitstamp is likely due to the lack of utility for these tokens now that their respective platforms are no longer operational.

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp has announced that it will be disabling trading for FTX and Celsius tokens on its platform. This move follows in the footsteps of other exchanges who have already stopped allowing users to trade these tokens. Withdrawals for these tokens will still be enabled on Bitstamp, but selling will be disabled as of November 22 at 7 am EST.

The decision to disable trading for these tokens is likely due to the lack of utility for them now that their respective platforms are no longer operational. For example, Celsius ceased operations some time ago but its CEL token has been volatile recently due to a “short squeeze.” Similarly, FTX’s token has also lost much of its utility now that the FTX exchange is no longer in operation.

While it’s unfortunate that Bitstamp is disabling trading for these tokens, it’s understandable given the current circumstances. Hopefully, in the future there will be more utility for these tokens and they will once again become tradeable on cryptocurrency exchanges.
