Digital collection to be on Droppp
Funko Inc. stated their intentions to join in on the NFT industry after acquiring a majority ownership stake in Tokenwave- an NFT startup. The company believes that Funko NFTs have the potential to change the game of NFT sales. Last week the company disclosed they are launching a collection featuring none other than the beloved characters of Jay and Silent Bob from the classic comedy “Clerks”.
The characters will be memorialized in a collection released by the company celebrating the characters of Kevin Smith’s Askewniverse movies. These beloved characters have been seen in multiple movies including Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
The collection is set for a Tuesday July 26,2022 drop as Jay and Silent Bob x Funko Series 1 Digital Pop and will be launched on Droppp. Not only are the NFT dropping but physical versions of the NFT are being created as well for sale on the site. The digital collectibles will be issued on the WAX blockchain network.
In addition to the NFT offering, Funko is promising an immersive, fan-focused community experience at the San Diego Comic-Con from July 21-24. Funko’ s new digital collectible items are not the only ones in the web3 space as other companies have joined in on the NFT craze as well. Companies such as Topps, Adidas, Arizona Iced Tea, Rolling Stone, DeLorean Motor Company, and Marvel all offer some form of digital collectible using their IPs.
