Meta has begun to roll out yet another web3 feature. The company will now let users include digital collectibles on Facebook.
Currently users can take their digital assets and show them off on the Facebook platform. This was previously allowed for Instagram but has now moved on to Facebook and its over 2 billion users. Now your NFT pfp will be able to be showcased across both facebook and instagram.
The digital asset integration expanded to 100 countries and utilized the Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow blockchains with more blockchains planned for the future such as Solana. With Solana being one of the busiest NFT chains it would be wise to have that implementation offered as well.
Meta wrote in a blog about the situation “As we continue rolling out digital collectibles on Facebook and Instagram , we’ve started giving people the ability to post digital collectibles that they own across both Facebook and Instagram. This will enable people to connect their digital wallets once to either app in order to share their digital collectibles across both”
This move continues to stay in step with the new branding of Mark Zuckerberg’s company as it moves towards becoming the main avenue for the general public to participate in the metaverse. Though the sector may not be as interoperable as one may think it should be that too may change with companies such as metalinq planning for interoperability between metaverses.
