Guild of Guardians (GOG) is a mobile-based fantasy RPG. The game is on the verge of introducing new playable NFT characters which will be based on the IP of popular professional esports teams. The number of teams being immortalized by the NFTs is eight.
The teams are Cloud9, NAVI, Ninjas in Pyjamas, NRG, SK, Gaming, T1, and Team Liquid. The teams have already signed multi-year partnerships with GOG. The NFTs will be split with half being for sale and the other half available to be earned through gameplay.
GOG was developed by Stepico Games and published by Immutable studios. GOG isn’t the only web3 and crypto company that has decided to move into esports of course. FTX paid $210 million to rename the popular esports team TSM to TSM FTX for a ten year term. This deal was more than the deal the company signed to change the name of the Miami Heat’s basketball arena. Coinbase also joined the bandwagon by singing a massive multi-multi-million dollar deal to become the main partner of Berlin International Gaming’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team
It has been stated that esports and web3 compliment each other giving the teams new ways to generate substantial revenue instead of searching for sponsorships.
