Hetzner and its anti-crypto policies
Cloud provider Hetzner has now made clear their stance on mining operations when it comes to Ethereum. The Ethereum chain is poised for change from a Proof of Work system to a Proof of Stake system just like Solana, Avalanche, Cardano, and Pokadot.
The German company is a private and centralized cloud provider and spoke on its position around running nodes on the blockchain. The cloud company went on to highlight parts of its terms of service that prohibit any crypto service activities. This is being seen as a threat to Ethereum and the Ethereum community in that the amount of nodes hosted by Hetzner is around 16% right behind Amazon’s 54%

Once again the fact that crypto projects are still relying on centralized services for hosting shows how detrimental that is to sustainability of the sector. Decentralization cannot truly happen if a centralized power can “pull the rug up from under it” so to speak.
Hetzner laid things clear with a statement:
Running nodes, mining, farming, trading, and storing of blockchain information were also made taboo by the cloud company. The company revealed that talks were already taking place on what to do about Ethereum and other crypto projects on the platform and stated that fair warning was given to the communities via their statement.
Once again this statement shows that crypto can be adversely affected when there is a centralized system still in play. Though the amount of information on Hetzner concerning Ethereum is high 84% of the assets and information is sprinkled around on other providers with Amazon being the biggest holder at 54%
